Hadrian, 117-138. Cistophorus (Silver, 29 mm, 10.53 g, 6 h), uncertain mint D in Asia Minor. HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS P P Bare head of Hadrian to right, with slight drapery on his left shoulder. Rev. COS III Dionysus standing front, head to left, holding kantharos in his right hand and thyrsos in his left; at feet to left, panther seated left. Metcalf -. RPC III online 1450A. Extremely rare, by far the finest of apparently only two known examples. Struck from a somewhat worn obverse die with minor die breaks, otherwise, very fine.
